Why do crystals need to be sanctified?

Your new crystals that have been purified by you are ready for use, but as with all energies and natural elements, crystals are sometimes abused. Sanctification helps reduce the chance that you or someone else will do this by mistake or on purpose.
It also affirms your pure intention to help yourself and others with the divine power of crystals. Consecration also protects the crystal from anyone or anything trying to use the crystal without your knowledge. This is rare, but I’ve heard it happens occasionally.
If you haven’t consecrated a crystal before, and if after reading this article you feel like you want to consecrate your crystal in some way, you can start today.
Before consecrating them, you need to make sure the crystals have been freshly purified.
How to consecrate a new crystal?

There is no one completely accurate and correct method, this article shares a simple method, feel free to add more words or change it to suit your personal ideas, beliefs or spiritual path.
Sanctification usually involves connecting to a higher power, which may be the Source, the Great Spirit, a god, a goddess or just the universe.
Over time you will find that the way you consecrate your crystals will change and evolve. This can be helpful as you begin writing down your chosen statements on a piece of paper or in a notebook for future reference.
If you have a designated area for meditation, crystal healing, or an altar, you can use that. If you wish, you can also use candles and incense to enhance the spiritual energy of the space.
Methods of sanctification:
- Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. *
- Pick up your crystal with both hands and hold it in front of you, just above your eyes. *
- While looking at your crystal, say out loud or in your mind the following or similar words: “I dedicate this crystal to the Original Creator Source. May it serve and serve only my highest and greatest good, and the highest and greatest good of all people” *

It will do whatever it can to help you, no matter what it can do.
The ideal situation is when there is something very specific and you have chosen a crystal, this may be a crystal that you wish to carry with you for a period of time, crystal healing jewelry or when creating a crystal grid. These are long-term goal aspirations.
For example there is no need to program all your crystals or program one crystal for the day. There is no need to program a crystal if you want to benefit from its general properties, or if you choose it intuitively. Your intentions should follow the natural properties of the crystal. You’re harnessing energy, not adding anything that’s not already there.
Some crystals, such as white quartz, are multi-purpose and can be programmed for any purpose. For example you may intend to program a crystal for healing, protection or to attract abundance.

Don’t the crystal know what I need it for?

Programming crystals is a personal choice. If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it. My opinion is that crystals have many different properties and crystals have their own way of working, but if you tell them, they will be more than happy to help you. I don’t think programming is telling the crystal what to do, or limiting its effect in some way. When we program a crystal, we know exactly what we need help with most. We don’t tell Crystal “how” to do it.
I think there are some misconceptions about programming, and I feel like some people, especially those who are new to crystals, may have a knee-jerk reaction to the word “programming.” It can be thought of as charging the crystal with my intention, communicating my intention or giving it a purpose.
Our programmed intentions guide the crystals, and they do what they can to help us. In many spiritual, shamanic and occult traditions, people use their intentions to “charge” or “empower” their spiritual tools and objects. This includes herbs, oils and incense. They know these are from the earth and work with their energy.
These are ancient customs. Crystals are also part of these traditions.
You can use the crystal passively if you wish. When we begin to program/charge/empower certain crystals with our own intentions, it not only makes them more effective for us, it also helps us consciously connect with the crystals. I don’t feel like this limits those crystals in any way. I know many people who never saw the effects of crystals until they started programming them. This can be a great way to connect with your crystals.
How to program a crystal?

Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Relax and take a few deep breaths…
Pick up your purified crystal with both hands and hold it up to your third eye chakra (just above eye level).
While focusing on your crystal and your clear intention, say one of the following or similar words out loud or in your mind:
“I program this crystal… (state purpose/requirements)”
“I charge this crystal with my intention… (state purpose/request)”
“Crystal, please help me… (state purpose/request)”
It’s that simple. You can add or change based on what you really want.
What is deprogramming?

If you programmed a crystal for a specific purpose, you can remove it at any time. Deprogramming is simply clearing old programming and intentions from your crystal.
Deprogramming can be done when you no longer need the crystal to work for the specific reason you programmed it. You may have fulfilled the purpose for which you chose the crystal or your desires have changed and you want to use the crystal for another purpose.
For example if you create a crystal grid and once you are done with it you don’t want those crystals to still be communicating the intention of the grid, then it would be better to start from scratch. Another reason is that when you’re programming a crystal, you may feel like you’ve wandered off or chosen the wrong word, and you can delete it and start over.
How to deprogram a crystal?

- Purify your crystals however you like.
- Pick up your crystal with both hands and hold it in front of you, just above your eyes at the third eye chakra.
- While focusing on your crystal, say the following or similar words out loud or in your head: “I now cancel, clear and delete all previous programming on the crystal.”

What is charging a crystal?

The word “charging” seems to have different meanings to different people over the years. By understanding what people generally mean when talking about “charging crystals” are the following 4 meanings.
1. Charging equals purification
For some people, charging crystals seems to mean purifying them. I have seen some people use the words cleanse and recharge interchangeably. Some people think these two things are the same thing. Interestingly, some cleansing methods are also thought to charge crystals, such as using the full moon or copper pyramids.
2. Charging equals programming
Some people use the word “charge” to mean infusing their intention into their crystals. This is the programming process we just mentioned. In many magical and shamanic traditions, the word “charging” is used to describe the process of imbuing a spiritual tool with a specific energy or intention for use.
3. Charging is equivalent to injecting special energy
Still others believe that “charging” means infusing their crystals with a special energy. For example if they placed a crystal over a mineral in a sacred site, it was thought to hold the energy of that site.
The same goes for using the full moon, crystal skulls, other crystals, copper pyramids, symbols or personal altars, and the likes of Reiki.
4.Charging is equal to the energy that charges them
The most common meaning of the phrase “charge my crystals” in crystal healing is the idea that crystals lose energy over time or use and need to be recharged, similar to a battery or any handheld device.
Starting with the full moon, they can be recharged in a variety of ways, such as using other crystals or copper pyramids.
Do I need to charge the crystal?

I personally think that there is no need to charge crystals, and I have never… Of course, my opinion does not represent everything. It does not matter which one you think is more correct when using crystals.
The source of crystal energy I believe is that crystals are like crystallized energy or light. They were here before humans, and they will be here after we are gone.
Although they may be removed from their location within the Earth, they remain within its magnetic and aura fields. They are also connected to other crystals, planets, stars, the universe, and Creator Source.

I believe the crystals we use tap into this abundant and limitless energy. Everything in nature seems to go through cycles of activity and dormancy. I think crystals naturally mediate their energy when needed. It’s like the cycle of the sun, moon, plants and seasons.
Some people’s idea that crystals need to be recharged may be because they feel the crystals are blocked by negative energy or imbalanced energy. When they become clogged, they no longer work well.
People may feel that the crystal is weak because this dense negative energy is holding them back. All of these can be easily resolved by discontinuing use and purifying them. This is why I always recommend regular crystal cleansing.
I have always found that my crystals and crystal grids always feel bright and energized after any type of cleansing and it works great in my experience. If you look at the popular methods people use to charge their crystals, you’ll notice that many of them are also methods of cleansing.
