The Summer Solstice, also known as Litha, Alban Hefin, Gathering Day, Feill-Sheathain, Whitsuntide, Vestalia, and St. John’s Day, occurs around June 21-22, when the sun is at the peak of its power before it begins to slide into darkness, and we experience the longest days and shortest nights of the year. It is important to note that the light and dark halves of the year have nothing to do with good or evil. Light represents growth and expansion; darkness represents retreat and rest. Both are necessary. While the muggy midsummer marks the beginning of the sun’s waning, the season itself is incredibly lush and sexy. The sun, the flowers, and the earth are in bloom.
The hot midsummer creates a fiery, ripe, suffocating passion. As we enter mid-summer, the Goddess is at the peak of his energy and crops are growing well at this time of year. We’ve got all the planting involved with spring and life gets a little easier when we sit down and tend to what we’ve created. This is a great time to celebrate the work ahead of our upcoming harvest. We honor the God and Goddess, whose union bestows upon us the power of fertility to create the projects we begin at Imbolc.
Midsummer, when the veil between heaven and earth is thin, is a good time for divination. Litha celebrates the fertility, bounty, masculinity, beauty and bounty of nature. Harnessing the powerful power of the sun makes all types of rituals appropriate now. We can also harvest our first miracle plants at this time, as they are saturated with the powerful energy of the sun on the longest day of the year. Prepare a small cloth bag

Pour all your worries, problems, pain, sadness in your heart

And write it on the wishing paper and put it in the bag
Tie the bag with a red string

【step】
Think about a bad habit you have that you really want to break
write it in the center of the paper
Now fold the paper from top to bottom
Then fold from left to right
Make it collapse into a quadrilateral with the text inside it
when you fold paper
Imagine this habit trapped in paper
Now light the candle and meditate on its flame for a moment
When you’re ready to keep writing
Make the paper into a diamond shape and write at the bottom of the paper

Summer Solstice Festival Activities

Tie a rowan branch, a sprig of rue and three St. John’s wort with red thread and hang it on the door.
Make amulets (simple amulets) from herbs such as rue and rowan. If you make new amulets each year, you can dispose of the old ones in a midsummer fire.
Make a bag for a precognitive dream (mugwort, bay leaf, made of lavender, blue or yellow cloth and sewn with red thread) and place it under the pillow.
Make a sun wheel
Make a witch’s ladder using three colors of yarn (Triple Goddess red, black, and white) knitted into three feet of length. Add nine feathers of the same color for a specific charm (such as green for money) or various colors for a more varied charm, tie and hang. Red represents energy, blue represents peace and protection, yellow represents alertness and cheer, green represents prosperity, brown represents stability, black represents wisdom, black and white represents balance, patterned represents insight, and rainbow represents insight.
Make a rue protective bag out of white cotton. Add two or three sprigs of rue, some whole wheat bread, a pinch of salt and two star anise seeds and hang it indoors (you can do one per bedroom)

Many families place roses on their altars because they are the goddess flower this time of year. Try it yourself and enjoy the beautiful and fragrant decoration.
This is a great time to purify negative/useless energy and build a stable foundation. Purification may include jumping into a fire, or placing herbs that symbolize or are filled with negative/unwanted energy into the fire. One may jump into the fire, not only to purify but also to rejuvenate oneself.
Hang a bunch of fresh herbs to dry. Use them to cook summer vegetables.
Place a ring of flowers around a large pot or bowl of mugwort.
