#AndeanPaqo: Your most important asset - the energy field poq’po

Sometimes we feel, metaphorically speaking, that we are being held back, like we are not living up to our full capabilities. We know we are capable of doing more, but we can’t seem to adequately express our intentions. The way to free ourselves from limitations is to improve our energy field, which the Andes call poq’po (Quechhua).
According to Andean mystical tradition, the only thing you truly own is your poq’po. Only it is yours. No one can infiltrate your poq’po without your permission, so you are solely responsible for its condition.
In Andean tradition there are no excuses! And there is no free lunch. . .
The Andean people may be unique in that they developed a tradition of sacred art that relied purely on intention to influence kawsay pacha (kawsay pacha meaning the universe). With your intention, you can “play” in the infinite realm of life energy.
Intention is at the core of all Andean rituals, from healing, to making despachos (blessing packages), to connecting/communicating energies with other people or spirits. To do anything in this tradition, you only need your own energy. You don’t need a mesa, a ritual, a magical song or spell, feathers or crystals - you just need your focused intention.

Energy Field Structure
poq’po
However, your poq’po is not a ball of energy. It is a highly structured energy body. It has an inside, an outside, and a skin, just like your physical body. The inside of your poq’po, like your body, has a structure, but a structure of pure energy. We have four main ribbons (throat, chest/heart, abdomen, base of spine/pubic area), two physical eyes and a third eye making up a quasi-fifth ribbon. The energy concentrated in each energy band has its own potential, its own special abilities that you can express in your life.
Although these ribbons are associated with colors and elements, these are not really important. What is more important is the potential that can be expressed by intentionally developing and then harnessing the energy of each energy ribbon. For example, the energy ribbon at the throat is silver and is associated with the wind and sometimes the moon. But the energy of this ribbon is rimay, the ability to express who you really are, to speak with the authority of personal experience, to conceptualize holistically so that you see the whole and the details of a situation at the same time, etc. Each ribbon also has an eye ñawi, which is an opening through which you can “see” the world based on the abilities of that particular energy ribbon.
But inside each energy ribbon there is also an energy cone. As with all energy ribbons, the large opening of the cone is in the front of the body, and the tip or base of the cone is in the back, toward the spine. The exception is the lower weigela, where the cone has a larger opening at the back and the tip is in front of the body. There is a long and complex saminchakuy practice where you purify each jinja through these cones, allow the energy to pass through them, and then weave the jinjas together with each other and with your spine, even projecting the energy from their ñawis to connect with the outside world. This is a deep cleansing practice that helps to activate the abilities of each energy ribbon while also “awakening” or activating the entire energy structure of your poq’po. I like to think of it as fine-tuning your energy structure.

Inca Seeds
inka seeds
Since we are not fully developed humans, we all have some practices to do to strengthen ourselves and our poq’po. To help us, we have eight spiritual helpers. They represent parts of us that are currently missing or underdeveloped. We work with these helpers in each energy center to teach us what we need to grow and develop.
In our poq’po, there is also a seed called the Inka seed. It connects us to mystery and holds within it our full potential, just as an oak seed pod holds within it the potential of a mighty oak tree. Inka seeds never have any hucha, but we still work intensely with it as we fine-tune our energy structure. We even move it out of our energetic bodies for a period of time and leave it on Earth with all eight of our helpers while we energetically cleanse our poq’po and prepare for the restoration of our Inka seeds.

Working with Energy Fields
work with poq’po
Working with your poq’po is the main responsibility of the paqo. You are always looking to boost your energy and increase your capabilities (which together create your personal power) so that you can live more engaged, productive, and joyful lives.
If you have been neglecting your poq’po, this is a reminder to refocus on it - at least, use your intention to purify your poq’po so that you can more easily evolve into the fullness of your life. Your partners in this process are kawsay pacha (source of sami) and Pachamama (purifier of hucha). But they only respond to your intentions. So always remember, your poq’po is your true property. Cherish it. Respect it. Work with the intention of improving it.
